The main focus of our company is as a specialist manufacturer and complete installer
for all types of libraries and bookshops as well as the training and conference sectors. Here our company philosophy is represented by the slogan: “Planning, development, production, installation
– everything from a single source for a satisfied customer.”
The development of Bibliothekseinrichtung Lenk GmbH, called BiblioLenk for short, took it from a specialist planner of library fittings to a manufacturer with its own production. We are also distinguished by our on-site advice to clients and our detailed three-dimensional planning, production in our in-house industrial furniture production area, our workshops and installation with our firm’s own staff as well as by our love of detail.

This family company, which was founded in 1990, has constantly
developed from a premises installer into a planner, specialist consultant and complete installer of libraries. Then in 1998 came orientation towards and specialisation mainly in libraries. In-house
production having grown during the first few years thanks to our own alu modular system and the leased joinery workshop, in 2005 this Erzgebirge-based company set up its own very modern
CNC-controlled furniture production. This permitted the client’s requirements to be met on a still more individual basis. Honours
such as “Mutmacher der Nation” (Inspiration of the Nation), nomination for the 2008 and 2009 Große Preis des Mittelstandes (Big Prize for Medium-Sized Firms) and the 2008 German Design
Prize for the training and lecturers’ desk product range were very important to the company’s development. On the basis of this positive development, the Lenks found fresh encouragement
during the 2008 economic recession and decided to invest further in production. With a volume of investment of about € 1.0 million
, the existing premises were further extended and there was constant investment in the latest machinery for furniture production.
A computer-assisted sanding and painting system now also makes it possible for us to produce our own furniture in the veneer
and painting/lacquering departments to the highest standards. And steel production for the manufacture of shelf systems,
individual book trolleys, individual specialist furniture of steel and wood construction etc. has also been moved directly into Bibliothekseinrichtung Lenk. “We can now plan all library fitting out and also carry out all production in-house. Installation ready for use is possible thanks not least to our own trained staff,
” explains Mr. Jürgen Lenk
and he adds: “If the client has a need for other services such as painting, flooring work etc., we of course help to arrange and
monitor this too. This brings together a totally problem-free package for the client and everything is monitored according to a specific construction timetable.”
Individual fitting out
We develop fitting out concepts entirely in accordance with the requirements of public and academic libraries and for specialist
libraries and individual training areas. Specialist furniture is also developed for training institutions such as technical colleges,
universities, schools etc.. Here it is very important that the client’s requirements be determined together with the management of
the institution and that precisely this is implemented. Increasing competition between the various institutions creates a need to
design each library and each training area as a “prototype” that also satisfies users’ needs since here the use from the point of view of a “client” is crucial.
With a suitable mix of standard products and tailored, individually developed specialist articles of furniture, what matters is to
produce and implement a concept for optimum conditions together with the institution and the architect. Individual production in
-house also permits us to use the most varied materials for the implementation of the concept. In addition, aspects such as lighting
, maximum mixed use, compactness, flexibility and versatility, transparency, functional division, efficiency, work organisation,
user management, sustainability and also geometry play an important part here. As specialist planners, our fitting out specialists
will be happy to advise you on site and to support your construction and fitting out tasks. The specifications are first converted
into a 3D fitting out plan that ensures optimum insight into the areas and provides all those involved with a visual basis for
discussion. We of course develop the concept and the furniture tailored precisely to the relevant requirements.

Thanks to our own production, we are in a position to customise,
produce and deliver the fitting out for our client to his requirements. In addition, we offer the full range of a complete installer. Whether it’s writing on shelves, reader station lighting,
carpets or IT technology, we will also be happy to deliver and install products that we have not produced. Right from the planning phase, we deal with these products and consider the
project in its entirety.

IIn the fitting out of a library, the detailed planning of individual
products and complete libraries presents a special challenge. In order to give the client a concrete idea of his furniture and of the
fitting out right from the planning phase, Lenk has developed a special planning program which helps the client to see his new or redesigned library in a 3D presentation right from the early
planning phase.
Here it is not just fitting out plans that are produced but also detailed plans of furniture and colour concepts for libraries.
Important details for the fitting out such as for example flooring and lighting are also incorporated. So the client can check the
colours, design and functionality even before the order is placed or production started and it is possible to wander virtually through the library. The important
thing here is that these details can also be produced by submitting the plan data to the CNC processing machines.
This planning is free of charge to you and without
obligation!
Even with complex planning and development, the subsequent short step to Lenk’s in-house production is an advantage since all
points can be implemented in accordance with the plan.

At Lenk, not only is the furniture itself produced but also the
incorporation of the technical details is discussed with the client e.g. cable channels, sockets, cable connectors and lifting
technology through to PC hardware. Here it makes no difference whether the technology is the client’s products or products supplied by Lenk.
And the materials used also play an important part. In the counter
area, these are the counter top (e.g. linoleum or scratch and wear-resistant mineral materials) and, in the foyer area, designer
materials that may be used. Since the counters may be used by different employees (e.g. shift operation,) and posture in the work area and the change from sitting to standing are of
particular importance from a health and safety at work point of view, Lenk has developed counter units that are height
-adjustable by electric motor and associated book trolleys that are adjustable in the same way. All the materials are of course
compatible in their interaction with height adjustment and RFID

technology. Thus for instance, carrying and lifting heavy books is reduced to a minimum and time lost through injury to the locomotor
system is minimised. This is supported in the purchase of new functional furniture by the welfare offices and medical departments of institutions.
Thanks to the combination of materials and technology, in
furniture with high standards of look and design the aspects of functionality, ergonomics and durability are not neglected. It is thus important to analyse the subsequent use of the
furniture with the user. With technical articles of furniture such as height-adjustable counter units, these are all fitted with electrical connections. Flat-screen
monitors can be fixed to specially-developed monitor stands with the VESA standard, which in turn creates space on the desktop. And other technical elements
are built in to fit precisely into the desktops as required.

Lenk offers on-site advice to the client free of charge and with no obligation. So
special features on the installation side can quickly and easily be incorporated into the subsequent
plan. And a unified view of the furniture to be planned is included in the advice. By taking into account aspects such as workplaces
suitable for the disabled, height adjustment, access widths, multifunctional areas, future-orientated furniture prepared to
accommodate later technical developments and of course the need for the total plan to be workable in production, we are ready
to help you with advice and assistance. Many premises that have already been fitted out attest to our performance.
From individual product to complete reference
e.g. Training and lecturers’ furniture
Another core area of our company is the training, lecturers’, conference and IT furniture. Workstations with TFTs that can be
lowered by electric motor (if required with workstation lighting) have been developed for the multifunctional use of IT training
areas. These are used, for example, in Charité Berlin, Munich City Library, the Free University of Berlin (University Library,
Philology branch library), Regensburg Technical College and many schools and training institutions. Among other things, we
develop concepts for use with multi-user systems, Thin Clients, Ultra-Thin Clients and other modern technologies.
e.g. Town Library, Görlitz
The Görlitz Town Library was expanded and rebuilt in 2008 and 2009. Elegance and function are combined in the new, modern
premises. There are over 60,000 media units available to users in the adults’ and children’s libraries on five floors in the new
building. The service desk in the foyer combines a high-quality, simple look with technical highlights such as the TFT monitors that
can be lowered and the desk workplaces that can be height-adjusted by electric motor. The furniture of the historic reading room
in the renovated old building of the Town Library was built with a high-quality veneered oak surface with an overlay coating.
Marburg University – Legal Department
The fitting out of the Legal Department’s part of the library at Marburg University was completed in a record time of just 11 days.
A complete floor of about 700 m² with its books and furniture was emptied, the walls renovated, the flooring replaced and new
shelves of the VierAdd type and new reading desks (each with its own lighting) fitted. Then the books were put back in their
places. This was made possible by an Erzgebirge collaboration of painters, floor layers and the firm’s own specialist installers, a
specific timetable and good coordination.
In-house industrial production
Computer-assisted production
We give our clients a 10-year after-sales guarantee on the items of furniture produced in our factory. To ensure a high quality
standard, all the pieces of furniture are stored on our CNC-controlled machines and they can be accessed and produced again at any time.
We work in five different production areas:
Industrial “wooden” furniture production:
In the very modern furniture production department set up in 2005, we work with computer-assisted CNC machines with absolute
measurement precision and measurement tolerances of 1/10 mm.
Cutting is done with a horizontal CNC-controlled panel saw. Here
each cut is given its own identification label for further processing. Special materials can be produced on the veneer
press, even for individual pieces. A fully-automated CNC edging machine always guarantees the correct and fixed edge on cut
panels regardless of whether it’s a solid wood or ABS edge. One of the most important machines in our production department is a sophisticated CNC processing centre. With this, special shapes
are machined and all other jointing drill holes and milling work carried out with 1/10 mm accuracy.
Industrial furniture production, “Paint and Sand
Department”:
In the year 2008/2009, production was again expanded and there was further investment in very modern CNC machines. The CNC
painting centre permits the processing of quality wood veneers and all paintable materials in the wood sector such as MDF and
also sheet steel. The painted panels dry in a drying room. Here the plant is designed in an entirely environmentally-friendly
fashion with the use of water-based paints but it can also spray using standard commercially available paint systems.
The CNC sanding centre is used here for interim and final sanding
of the wood materials and with its computer-controlled magnetic contact pressure process, it ensures the high quality of the end
products. A CNC edge sanding centre rounds off the sanding work for all solid wood edges and MDF processing.
Steel construction for furniture production
In the entirely new steel construction workshop built in 2009, the
steel parts are produced for our shelf systems and accessory furniture.
Digital length measurement units are used here in order to meet
quality standards. This area also has, among other things, a drilling and milling machine, the pneumatic cutting centre and the
welding and polishing technology for metalworking.
Aluminium construction for furniture production
We have produced all the aluminium furniture in this department since 2003 with cutting with the length measurement unit and
supplemented this with glass, melamine and veneer panels.
Finishing of furniture
The finishing of the furniture from all the manufacturing departments and quality assurance is done in this department. (We are certified to ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management). Electric
motor products are also installed and complete electrics installed here and here too the final cleaning and packing takes place.
Installation on site
We always install our individual pieces of furniture using our own trained specialist staff. In projects, the installation adviser is also always on site to supervise the installation first-hand. This ensures that the requirements discussed in the planning phase are implemented in installation.
